Ghana now second best in Africa in new FIFA Rankings

Ghana has overtaken Ivory Coast to become Africa’s second best side in the latest ranking released by FIFA on Thursday.

The Black Stars, who have 749 points, overtook the Elephants (748 points) to take the 35th place in the global ranking even though the two countries did not play any competitive matches in the month under review.

Ghana will now set their sights on gaining the first place in Africa as leaders Algeria in 32nd position (with 781 points) are just three places above them.

Senegal and Egypt maintained their 4th and 5th positions respectively in the top five on the continent.

In terms of the global rankings, Argentina are first with Belgium, Colombia, Germany, and Chile closing out the top five in that order.

Portugal, France, Spain, Brazil and Italy round off the top ten.
