It was ‘easy’ to snub Arsenal – Vardy

Jamie Vardy said his decision to remain with Leicester amid interest from Arsenal was “easy”, revealing he did not even speak to the Gunners.

The 29-year-old striker was heavily linked with a move to north London during the summer, but ended up signing a new and improved contract at the King Power.

Vardy scored 24 goals last season en route to winning the Premier League and highlighted the ‘unbelievable brotherhood’ the Foxes have as one reason to stay.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “Personally I feel I have a lot of unfinished business here.

“It wasn’t that big a decision, it was quite easy, this is where I wanted to be.”

And his international commitment meant he was always focused on Euro 2016, explaining he didn’t actually speak to the Gunners or manager Arsene Wenger about a possible transfer.

“I was away with England. No [I never spoke with them].”
