Family Health Medical School thanks gov’t for free bus

Ghana’s Premier Private Medical School, Family Health Medical School, has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, and the government, for selecting them to benefit from the recent distribution of vehicles to educational institutions across the country.

President of Family Health Medical School, Professor Yao Kwawukume, disclosed this in an interview that highlighted the future of the Medical school.

Prof. Kwawukume pointed out that, the presentation of the school bus to Family Health Medical School is a manifestation of how government recognizes the contribution of the private sector to the development of the country.

It would be recalled that during the Matriculation ceremony of Family Health Medical School, President Mahama in the presence of the two former Presidents, H. E. Jerry John Rawlings and. H. E. John Agyekum Kufuor, assured of his government’s commitment to partner and assist the private sector to develop the nation.

President John Mahama in fulfilment of his promise made to the private sector, in selecting some state educational institutions to receive buses and pickups, included the First Private Medical School (Family Health Medical School).

In appreciation of the kind gesture, Professor Kwawukume, President of Family Health Group, indicated that the bus will enable the hospital and medical students to embark on free medical outreaches to rural communities.

He also stated that, on the 1st of July, 2016, which is Ghana’s Republic Day, the first ten needy patients visiting the hospital will be given free medical services including surgeries.

On the future of the school, the President of the school and the directors have indicated, their desire is to see the school become the first among equals in the world in the next five years.

Family Health Medical School is affiliated to the University of Ghana, and accredited by the National Accreditation Board, and has collaborations with medical schools in America, Europe and Asia.

Family Health Medical School has modern facilities such as the Tim Johnson Library Complex with a lot of unique tools for learning including; Telemedicine to communicate with USA, Europe and rest of the world, an E-library, spacious hall of Anatomy (among the biggest in the sub region) for the dissection of Cadavers and Computerised Facilities to view different parts of the human body and Cadavers lodge (mortuary).

Other facilities are; an in-House Hostel facility with internet and recreational rooms, Spacious Sports Field including badminton, Wireless Network connectivity and spacious compound with trees for relaxation. These facilities overlook the Atlantic Ocean with a cool breeze for learning.
