Mahama, Nana Addo pay tribute to Muhammad Ali

President John Mahama and the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, have eulogized the late boxer Muhammad Ali, who passed away late Friday night.

In a Facebook post, President Mahama described him as hero and truly “The Greatest”.

Ali in a photo with Ghana’s Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, when he visited Ghana in 1964.

Nana Addo in tweet also hailed him as eloquent, brilliant, principled, and the greatest boxer of the modern era.

The former world heavyweight champion died late on Friday June 3, at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, having been admitted on Thursday.

He had recently been suffering from a respiratory illness, in addition to a long term battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born Cassius Marcellus Clay on January, 17, 1942, Ali fought in 61 fights over a professional career lasting 21 years.

He won 56 fights, 37 of which were knockouts.
