Ken Loach’s “I, Daniel Blake” Wins Palme d’Or

Ken Loach’s movie “I”, Daniel Blake” has clinched the  Palme d’Ore at Cannes Film Festival 2016 as the film with the best picture at the festival.

The British director wins the award for the second time as best picture at the festival with his 2006 ‘the wind that shakes the Barley’ winning the first.

While “I, Daniel Blake” is a film about a middle-aged widower and the UK welfare system, the wind that shakes the barley is a fictional story of two county cork brothers who join the Irish Republican Army to fight for the Irish independence from the United Kingdom.
