Beyoncé’s mom says Lemonade is about the ‘Healing Process’

Like mother, like daughter.

In a new interview, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles-Lawson opens up about her daughter’s new album Lemonade and how it relates to her own life as well.

“It could be about anyone’s marriage,” she tells ABC13 in Houston.

“I think that everybody at one time or another has been betrayed and lied to and it’s about the pain and it’s about the healing process and it’s about how do you get past that and move on.”

In 2011, Knowles-Lawson went through a divorce from Mathew Knowles and leaned on their children – Beyoncé, 34, and Solange, 29 – to get through the tough time.

“I remember my first little pity party and I called them crying and you know, they all came,” she said. “We had a slumber party, we watched old movies all night and ate ice cream. It was very healing.”

She found love again in 2013 with actor Richard Lawson, and the two wed last year.
