A former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani is angry with President John Dramani Mahama for not attending the opening ceremony of the Ghana Trade Fair 20th exhibition organized in Tamale for the first time.

As the Guest of honour, President Mahama was billed to launch the weeklong event which coincided with the State of the Nation Address on Thursday February 26.

The organizers anticipated that the President could have graced the occasion after the event and extended the launch to 2pm.

A disappointed Prince Imoro Andani told Citi News at the Tamale Sports Stadium that the President’s action was a sign of disrespect to the people of his home region.

He argued that the President Mahama could have delegated his vice or any of his cabinet ministers to deliver his key note address.

“I have not seen a single cabinet minister present at this occasion. The occasion was launched by a deputy minister of Brong Ahafo Region. I am highly disappointed. My heart is seriously bleeding because the President of the Republic of Ghana who is a son of this land is missing.”

Prince Imoro Andani admonished President Mahama to render an apology to the people of the Northern Region.

“That is sad, that is disgraceful and the President owes the people of this region a huge apology.”

The event, organized by the Ghana Trade Fair Company in collaboration with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), was on the theme, “Two decades in international trade fairs in Ghana: exploring business opportunities in the SADA zone of Ghana.”

The launch was disappointing and some exhibitors attributed it to poor publicity as well as a poor coordination.
