Blakk Rasta

One of Ghana’s award-winning reggae artistes, Blakk Rasta, has been invited to perform at the seventh edition of the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) to be held at the Harare International Conference Centre on February 25, 2016.

Blakk Rasta, who is currently in Zimbabwe preparing for the event, has eight albums to his credit. He is also expected to release his latest album in March this year. His repertoire gives him the ability to evoke musical excitement for an entire night with his Herbalist Band.

His single hit song titled ‘Mugabe’ is definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music eulogising the Big Man of Africa, Robert Mugabe.

As a radio presenter, Blakk Rasta has courted much controversy, considering that he is a constant pain to those who do not consider him a realist because he would mince no words in condemning acts of impunity by members of the Ghanaian society, especially those in decision-making positions.

His open support for great Africans like Robert Mugabe and his constant release of positive music will definitely have gone a long way to influence the decision to have him in Zimbabwe for two very important events in the life of every Zimbabwean.

He is also expected to headline a concert in honour of Robert Mugabe dubbed ‘Well Done Bob’. The concert will feature some of Zimbabwe’s biggest musicians.

According to Farai Chapoterera, ZIMA publicist, “Blakk Rasta will be the headline act at a concert to be held in honour of President Robert Mugabe that will come immediately after the ZIMA ceremony. This concert is a musical celebration of Robert Mugabe the teacher, father, uncle, president and continental icon.”
