Exercise books with covers embossed with pictures of slim models dressed in bikini with parts of their breasts and buttocks exposed in a provocative way have become the latest sensation among boys in several basic schools across the country, prompting the Ministry of Education to call for investigation.

The books are sold on the open market and reports say they have become the favourite of young boys in primary schools and are therefore selling like hot cakes.

The pictures on the exercise books show the models wearing very skimpy underwear and braziers which do not cover their entire breasts. One of the ladies on the books was captured doing a strip tease.

Neither the publishers nor distributors of the exercise books have been identified except the retailers.

Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, took to his Twitter handle to express concern about the development: “We have drawn the attention of the security to help locate and stop the company behind these exercise books which appear to be targeted at our school children.

“While asking for leads from the general public, we urge parents and teachers to protect our children from such inappropriate materials”, the deputy minister added.
