Vice president of the Ghana Football Association George Kwasi Afriyie has made a passionate appeal to the media to promote the local league ahead of the 2015/16 league season.

He pointed out that the only way to take it a notch higher is by spreading the good news about the product-Premier League.
Afriyie, however, pointed out at the launch of the 2015/16 league yesterday that the media could criticize his outfit constructively to put it on its toes.
To the former U-20 management committee chairman, comparing the advanced foreign leagues and the domestic one is like darkness and light, but pledged that efforts are being made to attain perfection.
And as part of measures being put in place to realize that goal, the FA has secured a sponsorship package for radio broadcast rights.
He added that talks are ongoing to secure a new title sponsor for the league following the pull out of First Capital Plus bank.

He said “security for players at all centres have been taken care of. FA is doing everything possible to secure a sponsorship for the league.”

“Clubs introducing players and holding seminars is the way to go, that certainly will make them attractive and I want to commend them for that.”

.

“Oftentimes we say the media is a major stakeholder; we have a common interest which is the product; Premier League.  What do I gain if my product is being chastised on regular basis?”

“We are asking for your total participation for the promotion of the league and be fair in your reportage as we strive to grow the brand. Let’s promote the product-Premier League. If the product is dragged in the mud, how do we get sponsors?”

“We want to thank the clubs for their patience. We at the FA wish to state that we shall continue to stick to our programs and wish all the teams a successful season.”

The domestic league kicks off this weekend after many weeks of delay, due to legal tussles.
