Police at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region have arrested a 45-year-old man for having allegedly impregnated his 21-year-old daughter.
The incestuous act was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at Obuasi by the victim after she had been beaten by her father, Efo Red.
Commander Togbui Adakpui confirmed the arrest to Adom News Wednesday, a day after the father was arrested.
According to Adom Fm report, checks revealed that the suspect had been repeatedly having carnal knowledge of his daughter.
It is believed that Efo Red was responsible for her three pregnancies, two of which the victim was forced to abort.
“The victim refused to abort a third pregnancy which she is carrying now and that is why he beat her,” a neighbour said.

The victim’s mother, who had lived in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, the report indicated, brought her (victim) to live with her father who had abandoned them for years.
The mother located Efo Red at Kwapia near Obuasi where he was then living with his new wife.
Soon after the arrival of the victim, however he divorced his wife.
According to the victim, she telephoned her mother to lodge a complaint after her father had sexually assaulted her.
The DOVVSU Commander said a docket was being prepared to arraign Efo Red before court.
