Ghana’s number one entertainment and current affairs TV station, GhOneTV will this February fix the most absurd or even delicate family feuds one can find in the Ghanaian society.
The station’s management has said they want this year’s Valentine season to be “different” and “special” hence the introduction of the Mending Broken Hearts promotion.
“There are times people hold onto a grudge that eats them up inside. Members of the same family, sometime mother and son, mother and daughter, husband and wife, father and son-in-law, I can go on and on…
“These grudges cause huge family rifts. So this year GhOneTV is saying enough of not talking to each other for two, three, four, five years. We will mend all those broken hearts!” Marketing and Brands manager, Andrew Akwetea said in an interview.
According to him although the station is not looking at taking the romance out of Valentine’s day, the TV station is looking at “doing something different and more impactful” as they join the rest of the world to celebrate the month of love.
Valentine’s Day, celebrated on February 14 every year, is a festival of romantic love.
Many people give cards, letters, flowers or presents to their spouse or partner. Some arrange a romantic meal in a restaurant or spend their night in a hotel on a day that is marked with common symbols such us hearts, red roses and Cupid. But “why celebrate erotic love when the agape or filial is suffering?” Akwetea asked.
GhOneTV has called for stories from members of the Ghanaian public who are willing to see their broken relationships with a family member healed.
The stories are expected to state nature of the relationship between the feuding parties, the cause of the grudge and why it is crucial to see it dissolved in the Mending Broken Hearts promotion.

Willing participants can also post their stories to the station’s social media platforms, Gh One TV on Facebook, and GhOneTV on Twitter and Instagram with the #MendingBrokenHearts hashtag.
Priority would be given to the most compelling and well written stories, according to organisers.
