A 40-year-old woman, Awonye Mary aka Apataa, was found dead on her farm at Apegusu, a farming community in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, Sunday morning and is suspected to have been raped and killed by Fulani herdsmen.

The woman was found naked with cutlass wounds on her hands and neck, according to an eyewitness who suspected Fulani herdsmen as being responsible for the act.

The deceased was said to have gone to the farm Saturday morning but did not return after 5pm – the usual time she normally returned home. Her children on Sunday morning launched a search and eventually found her lifeless body in a pool of blood on her farm with her cutlass by her side.

The Frakadua police went to the crime scene and conveyed the body to the Akosombo VRA Hospital, pending autopsy as investigations begin.

Elsewhere in Atebubu, Brong-Ahafo Region, Isha Isah, a two-year-old Fulani child, was burnt to death by unknown persons as she lay asleep in their family’s make-shift tent – the kind used by nomadic Fulani.

Her parents were not present at the time of the incident which claimed ten other similar tents in the neighbourhood, DAILY GUIDE has learnt.

The chief of Fulanis in the area, Fulani Musah, told the media that the father of the deceased had gone to the mosque while the mother had gone out to fetch water when the incident occurred.
The aforementioned stories take place against the backdrop of the Agogo Fulani brouhaha in the Ashanti Region in which many persons have lost their lives.

Instances of suspected Fulani armed robbers striking in various parts of the country have soured the relationship between them and residents in these parts of the country.
