A man has allegedly been assassinated and his body hanged on a metal container, thereby painting a picture of suicide.

The body of the man, whose identity was still not known as at press time yesterday, was found hanging on the container with a green cloth firmly tied to his neck.

The sad incident happened close to a fitting shop at Bohyen in Bantama, a suburb of Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, on Thursday.

The body has since been removed by the Suame police and dumped at the hospital for autopsy to ascertain the real cause of death.

No arrests have been made yet but the police are doing everything possible to apprehend the suspected killers.

The Suame Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. D.O. Lomotey, stated that preliminary investigation had proven that the man was murdered.

He said the victim had wounds on his chest which suggested that he was stabbed by some people and then hanged his body afterwards.

The police, upon a search at the crime scene, found a pair of scissors which was stained with blood, heightening suspicion that the unidentified man was stabbed.

Chief Supt. Lomotey noted that the deceased person, who is believed to be in his mid 30s, also had his mobile phone on him.

According to him, people in the area could not identify the dead man, an indication that he was killed somewhere in the city and later brought to be hanged on the container.

The commander stated that the police were still investigating the matter so as to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
