Spanish giants Atletico Madrid will pay a ‘bonus’ of one million euros to Vitoria Guimaraes when Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah plays 35 games for them.
Mensah, 21, was bought by Atletico as a player for the future and has been loaned out to Getafe for playing time.
His contract with Atletico has been leaked by Spanish tabloid “Marca” and the Rojiblancos are to pay extra money if he features in 35 games for them.
Also, the buy-out clause of the Gomoah Fetteh Academy groomed player is 40 million euros
The contract also provides the method of payment, which has already generated a bitter controversy as Vitoria de Guimaraes on Tuesday published a note in which they stated “that Atletico Madrid is in breach payments Bernard which is causing serious financial damage to Vitória Sport Clube ”
“Atletico had to pay 1.5 million euros by January 15 and also the same amount five days. August 15, 2016 and January 15, 2017 are the remaining days they must settle the rest”
Mensah joined Atletico last summer after hitting five goals in 30 games for Vitoria in the Portuguese league.
