In just three days, January 31, the deadline for submission for entries for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music awards Vodafone (VGMA) will elapse.

Thus, musicians who are yet to submit their entries should do so before the deadline.

This process will be followed by the categorization of works submitted as well as verification that submitted entries were released between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2015.

The journey to the main event began with a call for qualified musicians and record labels to submit their entries for consideration in this year’s awards.

According to the organisers of the event, Charterhouse, since the call for submission of entries opened on January 1, 2016, they have received hundreds of entries from musicians all over the country spanning the various music genres.

The VGMA is arguably the biggest event on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar which aims at among other things, recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the various players in the Ghanaian music industry.

This year’s event, which is the 17th edition, is expected to be an improvement on last year’s.

Last year’s edition saw top artistes such as Sarkodie, EL, Edem, MzVee, Daddy Lumba, and No Tribe win various awards with the most coveted award, Artiuste of the Year going to dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy.

Predictions for this year’s awards have already began but we will all have to wait for the official release of the nominees list, which is expected in a few weeks.

In the meantime, musicians who are yet to submit their entries are being reminded to do so before the deadline.
