The Nasara Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will host a maiden conference on 30th January 2016 in Kumasi.
According to the National Nasara Coordinator Kamal-Deen Abdulai, the conference is being held “in pursuance of its constitutional mandate and unwavering quest to mobilise the Zongos for victory 2016.”
The conference, which is going to be an annual affair, would among other objectives, empower indigenes of the Zongos across the country to know their rights and roles in national development.
This, according to another source from the organizers, has been informed by the constant throwing of dust into the eyes of residents of these segments of both the urban and rural parts of the country by unscrupulous politicians.
The conference shall also provide a platform for the party’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to outdoor his policy statement for the Zongos and settler communities when he becomes the President of Ghana after the 2016 general elections, Kamal added.
The party’s presidential candidate and his running mate, national officers, parliamentarians and parliamentary candidates from the Zongos would also be in attendance.
Others are all regional and constituency Nasara Coordinators, five Nasara representatives from each constituency, Founding Members of Nasara and elders, including past Nasara officers from all levels.
The rest are representatives of Nasara in the Diaspora and some identified Zongo youth groups and volunteers.
The conference shall be climaxed with a mammoth rally at the Dogoyaro Park at Asawasi, which shall be addressed by the leadership of the party including the presidential candidate and his running mate among other distinguished party stalwarts. The rally is expected to be graced by all sympathizers of the party, especially those residing in the Zongos.
