The youth of Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region on Friday demonstrated against the regent of the Mo Traditional Council, Nana Yaw Donpo II, for indiscriminately selling stool lands without consulting other gates of the stool.

According to the demonstrators, since the death of the previous chief, Nana Bimpo II in 1999, the Mo skin has been without a substantive chief and that a regent, Nana Yaw Donpo II, has stirred the affairs of the traditional area. They alleged that he has been selling the Mo Traditional Area lands without consultation. According to them, there are three gates that form the Mo Traditional Council and that all of them need to be consulted on matters of the traditional area.

They are the Paagor, the Dankwa and the Leera gates. According to them, since the death of the late chief, the regent has been doing everything possible to prevent the choosing of a successor. This, according to them, is to enable him sell lands for his own benefit. They added that this informed their decision to demonstrate against him.

Some of their placards read, ‘Acting president must wake up’ and ‘Acting president, stop the robbery” among others.

Their petition was received by the MCE of Kintampo, Michael Justice Baffoe.

The leader of the demonstrators, Mensah Bonso, told DAILY GUIDE they wanted the acting president of Mo Traditional Council to account to them.
