This year’s nominations for the sixth edition of the Ghana Entrepreneur Awards have been opened by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG).

Entries for nominations for Ghana’s most prestigious awards will close on January 31, 2016.

Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder and President of EFG, in a statement, said the award recipients would be honoured at a dinner scheduled for April at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.

The theme for the 2016 awards is: ‘The role of Entrepreneurship in Economic Growth and Private Sector Development.’

According to Ato Gaisie, the awards ceremony was launched in 2010 to recognize outstanding Ghanaian and non-Ghanaian permanent resident entrepreneurs.

The award, he said, will motivate budding entrepreneurs to sustain economic growth and generate employment in the country.

Mr Gaisie said the key objectives of the award are to reward the best entrepreneurs in the Ghanaian business community by showcasing business leaders and contemporary entrepreneurial spirit and also inspire other Ghanaians to undertake entrepreneurship.

He said entrepreneurs continue to be the engine of growth in Ghana and it is vitally important that their efforts and contributions are recognized, encouraged and celebrated.

Ato Gaisie said the criteria would include financial performance and growth, vision and innovation, personal integrity and commitment, strategic marketing and corporate social responsibility involvement in Ghana’s economic growth.
