Employment and Labour Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has assured public sector service employees who would participate in Wednesday’s nationwide demonstration to feel free to do so because they would not suffer any punishment in view of being part of it.

The demonstration was organised by Labour Unions over the recent hikes in utility tariffs and petroleum prices.

“…government has been duly informed about the demonstration and would respect the democratic right of the protesters since they have showed respect to the labour laws of this nation,” he said in an interview with JOY FM.

He added that government is still negotiating with Organised Labour on their grievances, and until government decides to change its mind to reduce the recent hikes, it would still be effective.

He urged individuals going for the demonstration to make it a peaceful one which would not result in any confusion or leave others injured.

Meanwhile, members of the various Labour Unions  insists that their outfit would never desist from its planned demonstration on Wednesday, 20th of January 2016 to press home their demand for reduction in tariffs and petroleum prices.
