Tension is mounting at Sampa in the Jaman North district of the Brong-Ahafo Region, following the seeking of an injunction from the Sunyani high court by the police commander of the area, DSP William Gyamfi, to stop the youth from demonstrating against the Assembly regarding the bad roads.

The agitated youth took to the streets to express their displeasure over the District Assembly’s refusal to have the roads rehabilitated.

In the process, they became unruly and started throwing stones at the offices of the assembly.

Their violent conduct caused the police to intervene during which a scuffle ensued. The police had to fire tear gas to disperse the marauding demonstrators.

No arrest has been made yet, but the police have vowed to bring the perpetrators to book.
