The Tamale circuit court, presided over by William Twumasi Appiah, has remanded David Ananga – the 28-year-old teacher who allegedly defiled and impregnated a 15-year-old Class 6 pupil – into prison custody to reappear on January 26, 2016.
The family of the accused, including the wife, was full of tears at the court room when they heard that the suspect had been remanded.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the Northern Regional Coordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Emmanuel Holortu, said David Ananga pleaded not guilty to the charges whiles his purported accomplice, Frederick Akoto, who was initially granted bail on health grounds, was rearrested and also remanded into prison custody.
He indicated that the David Ananga had defiled nine teenage girls with the oldest being the victim aged 15years.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE, the victim stated that she had been defiled by her teacher on three occasions, indicating that the first and the second were in the room of a teacher and the third one was at the school library.
It will be recalled that David Ananga was arrested by the Tamale police for allegedly defiling and impregnating the 15-year-old pupil.
The victim was later reportedly sent for an abortion but the outcome turned sour as the girl started bleeding afterwards and was sent to a health facility for further attention, according to ASP Holortu.

David reportedly said that the man who was going to perform it asked about the whereabouts of the girl’s mother and he (David) said she is his sister and that her mother who had traveled to Kumasi asked him to stand in for her, the police stated.
The father of the victim, Ibrahim Mohammed, upon learning what had befallen his daughter, reported the matter to the police and the suspect was busted.
According to ASP Holortu, it had also been discovered that the accused had impregnated nine pupils in various schools but the offence had ostensibly been covered by the school authorities.
The randy teacher was said to have been transferred to another school when the authorities heard that the police were on his heels.
David Ananga has been charged with defilement and causing illegal abortion while Frederick Akoto has been charged with aiding the commitment of the aforementioned offences.
