NDC pundit injured in ‘radio fight’ with NPP man

A misunderstanding between two social communicators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the studios of Tamale-based North Star Radio on Thursday resulted into fisticuffs.

The governing NDC representative, Mahama Zakaria, clashed with his opponent, Fredrick Tahiru of the NPP, during the newspaper review segment on North Star Radio’s Morning Show.

The duo exchanged intemperate words over a former NDC Constituency Organizer for Formena in the Ashanti Region, Robert Owusu’s explosion that the governing party will face the NPP with machetes if they attempted to disrupt the general elections with their incessant demand for a new voters’ register.

Attempts by the Show Host, Abubakari Sadique to calm nerves proved futile. Frederick reportedly bit Zakaria’s chin.

They finally engaged in a free for all fight outside the studios which resulted in Mahama Zakaria being hospitalized at the Kabsad Hospital in Tamale, where he was later treated and discharged.

Some concerned citizens of Tamale in a Citi News interview expressed worry about this early political tension especially on the airwaves ahead of elections in November this year.

Managers of the station have confirmed the incident.
