Expectations are high as the maiden edition of the FirsTrust GHALCA 6 tournament kick-starts this afternoon at the Sekondi Stadium.
Organizers of the four-day event have managed to finally pull it off after struggling to secure sponsorship for the off season tournament which has assembled five former Ghana Premier League champions and Medeama SC, the FA Cup holders.
Savings and Loans company FirsTrust agreed to sponsor the tournament to help grow local content and there has been support from the Permafix Industries, NASCO Electronics and Don Simon.
Away from that, clubs who threatened to boycott the event have settled their differences and ready to use the tournament as a dress rehearsal for the start of the season.
Two matches will be played on the opening day with AshantiGold engaging Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak sorting things out with Aduana Stars.
