Some members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Korley Klottey constituency of Greater Accra have petitioned former President Jerry John Rawlings to ask his daughter Dr. Zenator Rawlings to step aside.

Zanetor Rawlings defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament, Nii Armah Ashietey in the NDC primaries last November and would therefore represent the NDC as their parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.

There have been some agitations within the constituency since her win with some claiming that she was not a registered voter within the constituency.

The party members who petitioned the former President said they needed his intervention to correct what they described as an anomaly.

Their spokesperson, Kester Korankye, told Accra based radio station, Citi FM that they were against the personality of Zanetor.

Rather, they just want the right thing to be done.

‘’Just because the person appeal to certain people or you believe the person has won the election and therefore we shouldn’t talk about what has gone wrong before the election was conducted.”

He said: “clearly we are not saying we are against the personality of Dr. Zenator Rawlings or her involvement in our politics that is not what we are saying. What we are saying is that there is a wrong that was created in that we believe her name is not on the electoral commission register and it is a wrong that will come back to haunt our party. Remember this is an election year, we are going into a bigger election we can’t go into that election with an error. An error is an error we can’t overlook it and by the time we will realise we will be taken by surprise’.’[sic]
