The President of Sekondi Hasaacas Sporting Club, Nana Banyin Eyisson has rubbished claims that the prize money for the champions of the National Women’s Championship is too small.

Hasaacas Ladies won the 2015 National Women’s League and as their cash prize, the FA gave the team an amount of GHC3000.00 and a trophy.

The Prize money was welcomed with massive criticism from the media describing the amount as an insult to women football in the country.

The criticism overshadowed the achievements of the young ladies after emerging winner for the National Championship for three times.

But the President of the club that won the league says the GHC3000.00 prize money is enough looking at the history of female football in the country.

Speaking exclusively to GHANAsoccernet.com, Nana Banyin said football in general has been struggling with finances in the country and women football is no exception.

‘My brother let’s be honest with ourselves. We have started from somewhere and definitely we shall get there. For me the money is enough looking at the fact that the National Women’s League has no sponsors,’ he said.

‘Even with male football, we are struggling with issues of sponsorship in the country. So we need not to bite more than we can chew.’

‘With no disrespect to women, male football rules everywhere in the world. So if we should even struggle to get them sponsors, then we can say much about women football,’ he concluded.

Hasaacas SC is currently the only Premier League club with a standing female side.
