A new political party has emerged in Ghana with the sole aim of wrestling power in 2016.<\/p>\n

The new party, United Progressive Party or UPP, was on\u00a0Tuesday certified provisionally by the Electoral Commission to start preparations towards the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n

Founder of the party, Akwasi Addai popularly known as Odike is however not new to mainstream politics in the country.<\/p>\n

In the 2012 election he secured the least votes totaling 8, 877 representing 0.08 percent when he led the United Front Party in the presidential election.<\/p>\n

The Kumasi based businessman told Joy News’ Elton Brobbey that resolving the energy crisis permanently remains his primary goal when elected in 2016.<\/p>\n

He intends bringing in more independent power producers and possibly sell out the current power distributor Electricity Company of Ghana.<\/p>\n

He said he would roll out programmes to change the economy of the nation using the \u201cnatural mineral resources and arable land for agriculture\u201d.<\/p>\n
