Dutch-Ghanaian forward Johnathan Opoku scored the only goal of the game as FC Oss beat Roda JC in the Eerste Divisie.<\/p>\n

TOP moved up to fifth in the Dutch second tier with a 1-0 home victory over third-place Roda JC.<\/p>\n

The two sides played out a tight, goalless first half which sparked into life after the break.<\/p>\n

Opoku opened the scoring on 69 minutes with a 25-yard long-range strike, giving the home side a lead which they did not surrender, even as Roda shuffled the pack in search of an equaliser.<\/p>\n

The midfielder had an occasion to give his side the lead inside the opening stages, but headed wide with six minutes on the clock.<\/p>\n

Anco Jansen was dismissed for the Miners late on as their frustration got the better of them.<\/p>\n

The goal was Opoku\u2019s 12th of the season, and helps his side move onto 49 points, putting them two clear of sixth-place FC Emmen.<\/p>\n

TOP Oss are in fine form in the Dutch second tier and their victory over Roda was their fourth in a row. They now have not lost since February 9. Following this victory, the team will be confident of securing a spot in the promotion play-offs.<\/p>\n

24-year-old Opoku was born in Zutphen, Netherlands in 1990. He learned his trade at a number of local clubs before transferring to SC Veendam in 2011.<\/p>\n

Two seasons later, he switched to Oss, currently managed by former VVV-Venlo coach Wil Boessen.<\/p>\n

The midfielder is currently enjoying a prolific season, where he has averaged exactly a goal every other start\u2014with 12 in 24 starts\u2014in the Dutch second tier this season.<\/p>\n
