Some hundreds of eligible electorates\u00a0in the Akunkongo-Abempingo\u00a0Electoral Area in the Kassena-\u00a0Nankana East Municipality in the\u00a0UpperEast Region will miss the\u00a0opportunity to participate in the\u00a0forth-coming district assembly, as\u00a0effort to get their votes transferred\u00a0from the Bolgatanga and Chiana-\u00a0Paga constituencies has proved\u00a0futile.<\/strong><\/p>\n Per the electoral laws of Ghana,\u00a0nothing can be done about their plight\u00a0until a transfer opportunity is\u00a0given to them after the district\u00a0assembly or any general election.<\/p>\n The electorates who spoke to the\u00a0 DAILY GUIDE in separate\u00a0interviews are blaming Electoral\u00a0Commission (EC) officials in the\u00a0Kassena-Nankana East Municipality\u00a0for trying to punish the people of\u00a0the area for a confusion that erupted\u00a0ahead of the 2012\u00a0general elections and subsequent\u00a0legal action that followed.<\/p>\n They again pointed accusing fingers\u00a0at the EC for disallowing them to\u00a0transfer their votes from the Bolgatanga\u00a0and Chiana-Paga\u00a0constituencies to the Navrongo\u00a0Central constituency during the recent\u00a0opening of the voters register across\u00a0the country.<\/p>\n One of the contestants campaigning\u00a0for the Akunkongo-Abempingo\u00a0Electoral Area,\u00a0Clement Akanpaga, in an interview\u00a0told the DAILY GUIDE that ‘the\u00a0situation in which the affected persons\u00a0find themselves is unfortunate\u00a0and I hope it will soon be addressed\u00a0after the district assembly elections so\u00a0that they can participate in subsequent\u00a0elections in the country.<\/p>\n FROM Ebo BruceQuansah,\u00a0Kandiga<\/p>\n
