The Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has in a rather mocking manner, responded to President John Dramani Mahama’s criticism of him [Dr. Bawumia] for allegedly describing his government as incompetent.
President Mahama at a recent rally at the Trade Fair site in Accra suggested to scores of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters, that Dr. Bawumia lacked the capacity to refer to him and his government as incompetent since he [Dr. Bawumia], had not been President before.
Addressing journalists at the party’s Headquarters in Accra from a statement titled “The NPP’s response to the 2016 budget statement, the seven-year record of the NDC and the alternative vision under an NPP government”, Dr. Bawumia, said the Mahama administration was rather “competent” in the following.
“After this sad catalogue of the state of our country, it is remarkable that the President will complain about the use of the word “incompetent” but we understand that His Excellency the President does not want us to use the word “incompetent” to describe the performance of his government. So we set our minds to finding out what the NDC government has been competent at doing in the last seven years. Actually, we have to admit that this NDC government is very competent at the following:
1. Mismanaging the economy
2. Creating looting and sharing
3. Propaganda
4. Perpetuating Dumsor
5. Increasing Unemployment
6. Collapsing the NHIS
7. Cancelling teacher trainee allowances
8. Cancelling nursing trainee allowances
9. Not meeting statutory payments
10. Not paying contractors
11. Making SADA guinea fowls run to Burkina Faso
12. Collapsing Industries
13. Collapsing agriculture
14. Causing massive exchange rate depreciation
15. Massive unsustainable borrowing
16. Causing high interest rates
17. Failing to fulfill their promises
