The Saraki Situation Happened Before And PDP Did Not Punish Anyone, Murray-Bruce Hits At APC

Bukola-Dogara
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will not forgive Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara who went behind the party to seek support from the opposition and eventually won their seats at the National Assembly. However, the party says it will follow due process in meting out disciplinary actions against the lawmakers and the other who supported them.

This position has been faulted by the Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district Ben Murray-Bruce who reminded the APC that the same thing happened when Aminu Tambuwal emerged as Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2011 against the wish of the PDP.

“If PDP didn’t punish its Reps for voting Tambuwal as Speaker in 2011, why should APC want to punish its senators for voting Saraki in 2015?” Murray-Bruce wondered.

National publicity secretary of the APC, Lai Muhammed had following an emergency National Working Committee meeting of the APC in Abuja, insisted that the party had not rescinded on its earlier position to punish the errant lawmakers, insisting that the election of Saraki and Dogara was unacceptable.

“The APC leadership is meeting in a bid to reestablish discipline in the party and to mete out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in what is nothing but a monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicule and create obstacles for the new administration,” he said on Tuesday.
