The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has charged the media to be ready to expose corrupt practices in the country especially in government institutions.

He stated that the media served as a mouth piece for ordinary Ghanaians who don’t have the voice to reveal some of the corrupt acts in the country.

Nana Addo added that the media had an important role to play in the fight against corruption in the country.

Speaking at an end of year media interaction in Accra, he commended the media for the exposure on the Ghc3.6million branded buses of the Metro Mass Transit which was undertaken by Messrs Smarttys Management Limited.

According to Nana Addo corruption was one of the big problems facing the country and that he was counting on the media to help fight the social canker which has cost the country huge sums of money in terms of development.

“You are supposed to be the watch dog before the state watch dog of the country…. You are watching our country, state institutions and on behalf of lots of ordinary people who otherwise don’t have the voice.”

“If they are going to be cheated, and exploited, stolen from, the whole mess is on you, largely on you to expose them, to show the wrongdoing…. Corruption is a big issue on the lips of all of us and in that exercise, you have a very important role to expose them”, Nana Addo said.
