Influential Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has revealed he has now become a better player because of criticisms.

The Black Stars captain who appears to have been the most criticized Ghanaian player since missing a penalty in 2008 at the African Cup of Nations as well as in the 2010 World Cup against Uruguay in South Africa.

Despite those criticisms, the Shanghai SIPG attacker has never looked down as he is currently the all-time top scorer for the Black Stars with 48 goals in 94 cups.

Gyan is also the top African scorer with 6 goals at a FIFA World Cup after scoring at every tournament since 2006.

Now at age 30, Gyan says he is now a better player all because of the criticisms he has been facing.

“I really want to thank the critics because their criticisms have pushed me and they have played an important role in my career,” Gyan revealed.

Gyan is currently in Ghana for holidays after helping Shanghai SIPG finished at the second position last season in the Chinese Super League.
