Ck LegyGhana legend C.K. Gyamfi

The family of the late football icon Charles Kumi Gyamfi has idolized the departed former coach of the Black Stars of Ghana.

During the late Kumi Gyamfi’s active days in football, he coached and captained the Black Stars of Ghana to win their first Afcon tourney in 1963 and defended the trophy two years later before winning his third continental glory in 1982.

Though the national football icon was buried last week Saturday, his tremendous contribution to the growth of football in Ghana and Africa can’t be swept under the carpet as he was honored last Saturday by Global Media Alliance owners of Happy FM.

THE LATE ck Gyamfi was honoured with the Life time achievement award by the media outlet during the Sports Fans Awards.

Family members of the late legend who took the award on his behalf idolized the coaching techniques of the three time Afcon winner.

“CK’s understanding of soccer could not be compared. He really understood the game and his contribution surpasses all. His greatest worry was the welfare of players. He was a great icon,” a family member said.

“His major concern was about how the ex-footballers’ conditions could be improved. And now that the GFA has announced the ex-footballers endowment fund, we are hopeful he will rest perfectly.”
