Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan was voted Sports Personality of the Year at the 3rd edition of the Ghana Sports Fans Awards.

The Shanghai SIPG striker warded off competition from fellow Black Stars team mate Andre Ayew and Black Stars coach Avram Grant.

Gyan’s impressive performance for the Black Stars at the 2015 Afcon coupled with his contribution to the Black Queens as well as other charity worked done in the year fetched him the award.

Avran Grant’s good show with the Black Stars since his appointment at the 2015 Afcon as well as his commitment to building a school in Winneba was not enough to get the award.

Even though Andre Ayew has been very electrifying for English Premier League side Swansea City and the Black Stars, the fans voted for the Black Stars captain as the Sports Personality of the Year.

In a related development, Udinese’s Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was voted Foreign Footballer of Year while Asante Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams won the Ghana Premier League Player of the Year.

Hasaacas coach, Yusif Basigi won the coach of the Year beating competition from colleagues Didi Dramani and Bashiru Hayford.
