Liberty defender Alfred Nelson explains why he ditched Hearts for AshGold

Defender Alfred Nelson says he snubbed a move to Hearts of Oak because the club officials were not persistent enough with their interest.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract to join Ghana Premier League champions AshantiGold.

Nelson was one of the top players for Liberty Professionals last season, attracting interest from both Hearts of Oak and AshGold.

But the defender eventually ended up with the Obuasi-based club despite having held advanced talks to join Hearts.

The player has now revealed the Phobians did not show enough interest with their pursuit of his signature, hence his decision to join AshGold.

‘They [Hearts of Oak] did what they could but AshGold were pressing more,’ he said.

‘I was supposed to have even arrived here last week but I was considering other things and now here I am.’
