The president of the Ghana Weightlifting Association, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has denied reports claiming that he is against the GOC speaking on behalf of Sports Federations.
The former SWAG Personality of the Year was rather calling on individual national sports federations not to engage government on sports development, but rather leave it to the GOC.
“GOC should rather take leadership to face government than we (the sports federations). If the leadership thinks they work for the government and therefore shouldn’t behave like sycophants,” Nunoo Mensah told Starr Sports.
“For example the IOC for itself has made most of its members independent of government control so for me I think the GOC should do that on our behalf and urging them not to shy away from their responsibilities,” he added.
