Abdul Karim Imoro 44, a former accounts officer of the Local Enterprise and Skills Development limited (LESDEP) has threaten to expose rot at the company.

According to Mr. Karim, he has worked with Zoomlion Ghana limited for over six years.

Mr. Karim started his service to the company in Tamale and was later transferred to Kumasi, a circumstance he describe as bizarre in 2009.

Speaking to Abubakari Sadiq on North Star Fm Super Morning Show programme on Thursday, December 24, 2015, the former Accounts Officer of LESDEP stated he was seconded to a sister company under Jospong Group of Companies i.e. LESDED Headquarters in 2011 as an Accounts Officer.

He disclosed that after he was transferred with three others to the headquarters as an Accounts Officer, his salary instead of being increased was rather reduced for three years. Adding all efforts to get his employers rectify the development proved futile.

This, notwithstanding, Abdul Karim turned in his resignation letter.

LESDEP which is a public private initiative commenced its operations in 2010.

It is a wholly owned Ghanaian Company aimed at solving the problem of unemployment through the provision of entrepreneurial, technical and other specialized skills to the unemployed youth.

In the provision of its service, LESDEP was to recruit unemployed youth through the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), provide them skills and by training and offer equipment on hire purchase in order to be employable and able to fend for themselves and thereafter pay back for the equipment over a period of two years.

This partnership was reached between LESDEP and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in January, 2011.

Mr. Karim expressed his disappointment on the part of LESDEP for not leaving up to its obligation of providing entrepreneurial, technical and other specialized skills to the unemployed youth by recruiting them through the MMDAs.

Mr. Abdul Karim confidently said he has in his possession data he has gathered in the form of phone recordings, text messages and hard documentary evidence right from contract document to dubious payments and releases from government to LESDEP.

Former Accounts Officer said one can see the fictitious number of beneficiaries in matching it with expenditure pattern of LESDEP. He said there was a vast difference between the numbers of beneficiary’s government paid for training in 2011 to 2013.

Abdul Karim Imoro also disclosed that although, the company gave him a token as end of service benefits, they still owe him an undisclosed amount of monies. But was quick to add that he has been vividly denied what is due him.

The aggrieved former worker of LESDEP alleged he has even been threatened by some individuals of the company from coming public with the information of the dubious deals in the company.

He however gave January 4th 2016 as a day he will make public all the necessary information available to him to prove that something fishy has happening at LESDEP where Ghanaians are shortchanged.
