The Tema District Council of Labour (TDCL) has resolved that all workers in Tema should wear red arm bands in protest against the utility tariff hike.

A statement signed by Mr Wilson Agana, Chairman, and Ebenezer Kodwo Taylor, Secretary, and issued to the Ghana News Agency said “the protest is to press government and the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to suspend the arbitrary increase in the utility tariffs which is collapsing our industries.”

It also asked PURC to ensure that the utility service providers render acceptable and quality services to Ghanaians.

According to the statement, the wearing of the red arm bands is to “get ourselves in readiness for any further action to be directed by the Council.”
