Controversy surrounds new kit deal for Kotoko as Barex ambushes Lescon Sportswear

The new kit sponsorship deal for Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been shred in controversy as a new kit sponsor with the name Barex has suddenly emerged to scoop the deal from Turkish kit manufacturing giants Lescon Sportswear.

The Porcupine Warriors officially announced that the club has secured a $5000,00 kit sponsorship deal from the Turkish giants.

According to a report on the club website, the package included playing jerseys, training kits, campers and traveling kits for the Reds in the 2015/16 season.

In the said publication, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pacific Football Ghana Limited, Eric Oppong-Yeboah who was reported to have been working closely with Kotoko managers, travelled to Turkey last week to put finishing touches to the deal.

But reports emerging in Ghana yesterday revealed that Barex Sportswear has taken over the deal and have even released the first consignment of the jerseys for the Porcupine Warriors.

Sources close to the management of the Kumasi-based club disclosed to GHANAsoccernet.com that Barex Sportswear was introduced to them by a journalist and after carefully examining their deal, they felt it was better.

The arrival of Barex Sportswear is reported to have sparked controversy in the Ashanti Regional capital as some former players of the club have slammed the management for taking such a decision.
