Chairman of the Premier League Board, Welbeck Abra-Appiah has confirmed he will definitely leave his position before the start of the 2015/2016 season.

Abra-Appiah stated before the end of last season that he would be walking away from the job but media reports have emerged that the GFA is trying to convince him to stay on as there are no adequate replacments for him.

‘I will be leaving the PLB and I have discussed it with the GFA boss. It is not because GFA cannot find some one to replace me.

The FA’s Executive and Emergency Committees are yet to meet on the membership of the various sub-committees and so, in the interim, those of us who are serving on those committees have been asked to stay on so that those bodies are not left to work in a vacuum.’

He added: ‘I do not have any issues with the GFA. I do not want to leave unceremoniously or walk out at all costs. They have showed me a lot of respect and so, I must do same in this situation and wait for everything to be sorted out.’

The start of the 2015/2016 Premier League season is unknown as the GFA and PLB are yet to name a date.
