Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney arrival will boost Chinese football – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana’s captain Asamoah Gyan says England captain Wayne Rooney would spiced up the Chinese league if he agrees to join his side Shanghai SIPG.

Reports in the media had suggested that the Shanghai-based club have prepared a mouth-watering £75million offer for the Manchester United lethal attacker.

And the Black Stars skipper who joined the Chinese Super league side in the summer has stated that the 30-year old attacker will take Chinese football to another level if he agrees to re-unite with Goran Eriickson.

“He [Rooney] is a great player, and he will obviously take the league to a new level.” Gyan told Viasat1 Ghana.

“He is a big player but I don’t really know if he will join this club or play in China. All I have heard are rumours and I cannot say anything really about that but if Rooney comes, it will be great,” he added.

Goran Erickson worked with Wayne Rooney when he was the coach of the three lions eight years ago.
