Chairman of National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak Mr. Eric Barimah Atuahene walked out of a board meeting on Tuesday evening to express his dissatisfaction at the decision of the Board to appoint former Chief Executive Officer of the club Vincent Sowah Odotei and former supporters Chairman, Alhaji Moro Akanbi as members of the Board of Directors of the Club.

The Club’s Board at a meeting held at the World Trade Centre in Accra on Tuesday night announced the appointment of the duo which takes immediate effect.

It will be recalled that Board Chairman of the Club, Togbe Afede XIV at the recent held Annual General Meeting resolved to amend the company’s regulations to increase the maximum number of directors from its current 11 to 13.

The resolution which received massive endorsement from shareholders at the meeting gave the leeway to the board to bring on the two new faces which was yet to be known by the shareholders then.

In a chat with Barimah Atuahene who confirmed his walkout, he said what happened on the night was an affront to the teeming supporters of the club.

“Togbe called me on Monday and told me about the issue and I told him that the two characters had issues about their involvement with the club and since it was not a pressing issue, we should hold on to their appointment and deal with the issues against them while I relay the decision to the constituency I represented, that is the NCC.”

He revealed that he was shocked to see the matter come up at the board meeting the next day with all present trying to push the decision through without recourse to what he discussed with Togbe the day before.

Narrating what actually informed his decision to walk out of the meeting, he said: “We had a heated argument for well over 25 minutes and it was leading us nowhere. I only wanted their appointments postponed so that the supporters front can take a decision, but that was squashed with the present Board members saying a quorum has already been formed.”

“After the two gentlemen were invited into the meeting, I told them I cannot be part of the decision to appoint them, so I walked out,” Attuahene told ghanafootballnews.com.

He told ghanafootballnews.com that he had a meeting with the NCC executives on Monday night on the issue and the meeting resolved should matters get to it worse he should refrain from being part of the decision to appoint the two, which he carried out.
