Renowned media practitioner Dr Kwaku Ofosu Asare has charged clubs to devise marketing strategies to attract numbers.

The advice comes on the heels of a widespread claims of lack of patronage of the Ghanaian top-flight.

The former Ghana television host, who is currently a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has tasked clubs to find ways of marketing their clubs to attract fans.

He was speaking at a two-day retreat organised by the Ghana FA this week.

‘Currently, the media have become a very powerful tool so the clubs should create a media platform to communicate with their fans and implement techniques like selling tickets online to resist the stress of gate fee hustle,’ he said

‘Without the media, the game cannot attain the publicity and excitement to lure more people to the stadium.”

He also charged the club to build a lasting rapport with the media to promote their brand and gain much exposure.

‘Relating to PR, our commentators should be in charge of delivering quality without being biased since they serve as best PR tool for this advocate.”

‘The club management should consider the demands of the fans. Views of the fans should be considered as relevant as anybody and they need to feel important.”
