Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyie, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has said Marketing has become a major tool for the development and promotion of the domestic league, hence the need for clubs to approach it with seriousness.

“Marketing is the only tool that will distinguish one club from the other or one league from the other.

“The English Premier League (EPL) is not the best in terms of quality as compared to the Spanish league, but the EPL, is the most lucrative and attractive league in the world, because it has been packaged well.” Mr. Nyantakyi said this at the opening ceremony of the Media and Marketing Seminar by the GFA on Monday.

He added that, the South African league is the most attractive and lucrative on the continent, because it is well packaged and marketed.

Mr. Nyantakyi however, noted that, it not the best league on the continent when it comes to quality.

According to Mr Nyantakyi, the GFA acknowledges the significant role of marketing in the development and promotion of the game, hence the decision to assemble experts both within and outside the country to share knowledge on how best to utilise the media and marketing to develope the game.

He said the seminar will find ways of raising funds by the clubs to improve salary of players and package their respective teams well.

The GFA President said the seminar will be organised on regular basis to update the knowledge of stakeholders in football as part of measures to develop the game.
