Music producer and sound engineer, Appiah Dankwah, aka Appietus has dismissed public criticism directed at him for accepting the portfolio of Talent Discovery and Development Director, in the newly elected Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) administration headed by Bice Osei Tuffour aka Obour.

Appietus has been accused of hypocrisy for accepting the position despite running and losing against Obour in the MUSIGA election held last October.

During electioneering period, he accused the Obour led administration of mismanagement of the music administration.

In an interview with Showbiz on Friday, Obour said the administration of MUSIGA was not a political party and as a result, there was the need for all interested parties to come on board to improve the welfare of musicians in the country.

“Our aim is to build a union that will fight for the rights of musicians in the country giving them what they deserve in terms of royalties, revenue, better deals among others,” he said.

Appietus who used to be a member of the Obour administration before he resigned to vie for the position of president in the MUSIGA election said he has received assurance from Obour that things would be done very differently during his new four-year tenure.

“Previously, whenever you give Obour pieces of advice he refused to listen and would instead take unilateral decisions. Obour has now realised that because of his attitude, he was not able to achieve most of the policies and projects he had in mind. He is a changed man now and I am prepared to work with him to see things through,” he said.

Appeitus, however, warned that he is prepared to resign and walk away once more if he realises that Obour is refusing to take the pieces of advice of those around him.

“What’s the essence of remaining with an administration that does not value your views? When I was nominated to my current portfolio, I made a promise to the delegates to discover new talents and I intend to see this through. If my attempts to do this are hindered by the administration then what’s the point of remaining with them?” he said.

He told Showbiz that he has not shelved his political ambition but would run one more time for the position of president after the tenure of Obour has elapsed.
