Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has confirmed signing a one-year contract extension at AshantiGold.

The 30-year-old signed onto the contract extension on Friday after holding successful talks with the club’s top hierarchy.

AshGold were desperate to keep hold of the experienced goalkeeper as they prepare themselves to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League.

Dauda, expressed delight at penning the contract extensions and says he is eyeing more success with the side.

“I am happy to sign a contract extension here and I know with hard work once more again, we will be successful,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Details of the contract renewal remain concealed but it is believed to have an embedded clause that gives the Ghana international permission to leave the club once a concrete offer is made by a club abroad.

Dauda rejoined AshantiGold at the start of last season following a failed stint in South Africa with Orlando Pirates.

He managed to help the club clinch their first domestic title in almost two decades last term to qualify the side to play in next season’s CAF Champions League.
