The Sunyani Traditional Council has denied it is considering stopping the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from holding its extraordinary delegates’ conference in the Brong Ahafo regional on Saturday.

The Krontihene of the Council, Nana Bofotia Boamponsem II told Citi News, the Chiefs “officially don’t know anything about the program” and so cannot hold meetings to prevent it.

“If they know Nananom are here and the land belongs to somebody, and they have the respect and recognition to the owners of the land, it is a must they must go there. And so if they are coming to do something and they haven’t communicated anything to us yet, it shows that we officially don’t know anything about the program they are coming to do”, he said.

There were earlier reports that the Chiefs were in a crunch meeting on Friday morning to stop the delegates’ conference scheduled for the Sunyani Coronation Park.

According to the reports, the chiefs’ decision was hinged on the fact that the regional executives failed to apologise for disparaging comments they made against the Paramount Chief, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri.

However, Nana Bofotia Boamponsem II said the reports are not true.

“We are not the official hosts of the program, but we are custodians of the land and so if they are surely doing something in Sunyani, they should have informed us.”

Meanwhile has noted it will officially let the authorities will inform them about their activities.
