Former Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko player, Bismarck Asampong has cast doubts on playing football and worshiping God according to the dictates of the Holy Bible.

The former footballer turned pastor made the pronouncement in an interview with Adam Adjei on Kasapa Fm’s afternoon sports show, Dwidwamu when he was asked about doubling as a footballer and a pastor.

According to him, most of the practices before games are in conflict with the Christian faith and almost every player goes through that unless you do not want play.

“There are instances where we are asked to bath with certain concoctions, smear ointments and other ridiculous substances on our bodies. Trust me if you don’t do it you will not play. Let me tell you when I was in Kumasi, George Owu refused to partake in one of those activities before a game because he felt it was against his faith so the coach decided to drop him until he gave in. Look I am not saying you cannot play football and follow God but if you want to worship him really well then you cannot do it and play football in Ghana”.

Bismarck Asampong popularly known as Charles Taylor is a junior pastor at Glorious Wave Church International at Sakumono.
