Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, the First Lady, has presented food and non-food items to two orphanages in the Greater Accra Region in fulfillment of her annual Christmas donation to the less privileged in society.

The beneficiary Homes, Osu Children’s Home and the Christ Faith Children’s Home at Frafraha, received bags of rice, cartons of milo and milk, gallons of oil, boxes of tomato paste, chocolates, assorted drinks, biscuits, clothes and toys.

A statement from the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday said Mrs Mahama, who is the President of the Lordina Foundation, has adopted the country’s orphanages and makes periodic donations to support the upkeep of the children.

It said the Foundation also provided support to the caregivers in the Homes and helped with infrastructure to improve the conditions in some Orphanages.

The statement quoted Madam Christina Addo, a representative of the Osu Children’s Home, as lauding Mrs Mahama for being a longtime friend and benefactor of the Home.

It said Madam Addo also thanked the First Lady for the new block being constructed for the Home, which would be completed early next year.

According to the statement, at the Christ Faith Children’s Home at Frafraha, Mr Kofi Adu-Boahene praised the First Lady for her kindness, noting that “apart from festive seasons she also donates items occasionally to the Home, for which we are very grateful.”

The statement noted that Mrs Mahama, through her Lordina Foundation, has also lined up a Christmas party and donations to other orphanages in the country.

“She will also be making some donations to health facilities and spend some time with the women in the Gambaga Witches Camp,” it added.
